Sr. Android SDK Engineer

Responsibility:

• Design, build, and maintain Android apps and SDKs in Java or Kotlin.
• Develop Android SDKs for a variety of devices and form factors.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders across the company to introduce new features and products to users.
• Work alongside Android developers on Stripe mobile apps and Stripe Terminal to establish best practices for Android development company-wide.
• Implement industry-standard protocols to align with product capabilities.
• Create, maintain, and execute application unit tests as part of Continuous Integration.
• Analyze bug reports and oversee the defect resolution process, including disposition issues, resolving issues, and reporting issue status.
• Collaborate closely with QA staff to ensure the creation, maintenance, and execution of appropriate test cases.
• Engage with global teams, demonstrating excellent communication skills to provide support information.
• Conduct regular code reviews to ensure high-quality designs and implementation.
• Assist in ensuring the quality and timeliness of product/feature development.
• Proactively solve problems, working independently and within a team environment, with limited guidance.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years working with embedded, mobile, or other connected devices.
• Experience using automated testing and build systems.
• Degree in CS, CE, EE, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience adding, monitoring, and parsing telemetry data to proactively resolve issues.
• Fluent in English (both spoken and written).
• Experience or interest in developing for embedded, mobile, and IoT devices.
• Ability to listen effectively and internalize the best ideas from across the organization while setting a compelling vision for others.
• Preference for simple solutions and designs over complexity, with an intuition for what is lasting and scalable.
• Thrives in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Ability to empathize with users and contribute to crafting excellent developer and consumer experiences.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of EMV.
• Experience with custom hardware and peripherals.
• Knowledge and expertise in PCI technology, transaction processing, and related retail standards.
