JOB DESCRIPTION – SENIOR RAW MATERIALS ANALYST F/H
Job Title: Senior Raw Materials Analyst
Location: Geneva
Contract Type: Permanent/Fixed-term
Reporting to: Purchasing Director
We are recruiting this position on behalf of our client, who seeks to strengthen their purchasing function.
Main Responsibilities:
The Senior Raw Materials Analyst is responsible for analyzing agricultural commodity markets to anticipate price trends and guide the company’s strategic decisions. They monitor and interpret economic, climatic, and geopolitical trends impacting agricultural markets.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, process, and analyze data on agricultural commodity markets (wheat, corn, soybeans, oilseeds, coffee, cocoa, etc.).
- Monitor price trends, stock levels, trade flows, and agricultural policies at national and international levels.
- Conduct in-depth economic studies and provide market trend forecasts.
- Identify risks and opportunities related to price fluctuations and propose hedging strategies.
- Write detailed analytical reports and strategic recommendations for internal teams and clients.
- Continuously monitor industry trends, including technological innovations and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with purchasing, trading, and logistics teams to optimize sourcing strategies.
- Attend conferences, seminars, and professional networks to refine expertise and market knowledge.
Required Profile:
Experience:
At least 5 to 10 years of proven experience in market analysis, specifically in agricultural commodities (grains, oilseeds, etc.).
Technical Skills:
- Deep expertise in statistical and economic analysis tools (Excel, VBA, Python, R, Power BI, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of futures markets (futures, options) and risk management mechanisms.
- Extensive experience in interpreting macroeconomic and climatic data affecting agricultural commodities.
- Excellent understanding of supply and demand dynamics in grain and oilseed markets.
Behavioral Skills:
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Rigor, intellectual curiosity, and critical thinking.
- Ability to work independently and provide expert-level insights.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to perform under pressure and make quick, informed decisions.
- Professional proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of another language is a plus.
