Business Development Director.

Leading the development and execution of ECCO’s direct-to-consumer strategy in Emerging Markets



  • Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Global Sales, the Business Development Director is the overall responsible for developing and leading the direct-to-consumer strategy in ECCO Emerging Markets (India, Middle-East, Turkey and Latin America). The role is located in Amsterdam.
  • The Business Development Director will be heading up and supporting newly established joint-venture operations, partner business as well as ECCO’s own and operated retail business.
  • Moreover, the Business Development Director is fully responsible for driving ECCO’s foot print expansion in new markets in accordance with premium brand strategy, identifying, developing and establishing sales operations in markets outside existing Sales Region territories.
  • The Business Development Director achieves the targets as agreed by the annually approved business plan budget while providing the Global ECCO group with input and impactful recommendations about the markets in respect of product, sales, marketing, distribution channels, supply chain requirements, quality and compliance issues as well as processes/tools
  • The Business Development Director oversees the development and implementation of organizational structures and operating structures that best support the strategic direction of the markets and ensure that an effective succession management is in place.
  • As a people oriented leader, the Business Development Director encourages open communication within the team and across the organization, ensuring regular briefings of staff about global and local ECCO matters and providing leadership by example in line with ECCO’s values and leadership principles.



  • You have a master’s degree (or qualified through equivalent experience) in Business or related field and benefit from 10+ experience in an international management role, preferably within the footwear, fashion& apparel retail industry
  • You have a proven track record in developing, communicating and executing comprehensive business development strategies and plans, ideally combined with an experience in operating joint-venture operations in emerging markets
  • You show a strong business acumen and ability to set strategic and tactical direction, developing structures, processes and people while keeping a hands-on, "can do" mindset
  • Demonstrating excellent organization and prioritization skills, you think with innovation and creativity while keeping a flexible attitude to adapt to the needs of a growing and changing organization
  • As a results-oriented team player, you are able to define a clear sense of mission for the team
  • Your excellent communication and influencing skills allow you to create positive impact
  • You have a passionate commitment to the sales/retail profession and are a role model for ECCO’s values
  • You have a solid command of English and are willing to travel 30-50% of your time
