Our health and safety responsibilities are important to us to ensure we continue to deliver and improve our services and satisfy our duty to protect and monitor the health, safety and welfare of our people and business operations. This key role will take ownership and lead the company’s health and safety arrangements, strategic planning, policies, and training to operational enablement across the business. In addition, this role holds responsibility to managing best practice, making recommendations and enhancements to ensure all legal obligations, clients standards and ultimately all employees, contractors or other agents have awareness and are protected in the safety arrangements and support.
This is a new role within the organisation and you will look at our firmwide Health and Safety positioning, enhancements and improvements, as well as mentoring and leading the local Office and Facilities Supervisors.
The role can be located at the Bristol, Cheltenham, Birmingham, Amersham, Leeds, Liverpool or Guildford office with attractive hybrid home-working and flexibility, where you can share your time between your home and the office.
Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the business area leader, this role will be focused upon the initiative-taking improvement of Health and Safety (H&S) culture throughout the business, working closely with the H&S team (local office and facilities management teams) and Facilities & Environmental hub area team. This role involves both strategic development and operational delivery and you will have the autonomy to utilize your existing skills and experience to further augment the H&S performance of the business.
Services Management - Policies and Procedures
Working both operationally and strategically on a positive H&S strategy and implementing this throughout the business.
Driving best practice across the business and develop an enhanced safety culture and required arrangements. Including SOPs, ToRs, RAs etc.
Ensuring that the requirements of all relevant legislation are implemented, and that the business complies with corporate requirements. Utilisation of our H&S competent advisors to ensure all official and required reporting is achieved
Annual auditing and continuous management of internal services, to evaluate the effectiveness of H&S systems, policies, procedures, risk assessments and identify (and implement) improvements. With responsibility to ensure routine H&S activities and checks are conducted across all locations.
Investigating (or assist others to investigate) the circumstances and causes of accidents, incidents, and hazards, to take all required steps to reduce risk management of issues. Taking action to mitigate the impact and likelihood of health and safety risks
Management of external third-party H&S system and contract management reviews and annual auditing. Also, to lead project management of contract tender opportunities
Creating and submitting regular H&S reports including statistics, trends/themes, risk management, oversight, and budget controls at board level detail. In addition to monthly operational service report to BAL and any required proposals or business case improvement plans.
