 IT Technical Lead - Solutions Design/Architecture - AWS/Cloud/Web & Mobile Applications

Purpose of the role:
Based at head office, Watford three days per week and home two, and working in the wider IT team, responsible for ensuring that the internal and external cloud, web applications and mobile applications meet IT technical and business requirements.

Main responsibilities:
-leading in the design, build and support of project or change application initiatives
-ensuring, in any solution, that good data practices are adhered to
-applying agreed standards, frameworks and security to designs
-identifying and communicating current and emerging digital and application trends
-assisting internal and external teams with creating solutions which balance business requirements and best-practice requirements
-identifying and capturing non-functional requirements
-ensuring that designs include the specific functions, principles, tasks and/or behaviours which the system must provide technically to support business needs
-ensuring that designs meet compliance and regulatory needs
-developing practices across cloud, web and mobile applications to govern development practices
-co-ordinating technical activities within projects or change - from discovery/initiation, design, development, test and cutover through to handover and support
-identifying and concluding (with the relevant technical teams) the impact and considerations, risks and issues associated with new designs and/or change requests
-participating in change-request and IT design meetings, specifically contributing to good technical designs

Experience in:
-current programming language and technologies, including applications in
Laravel and React
-cloud technologies, including AWS
-working with various business and technical teams to deliver change
-knowledge of single sign-on, identity and access management (IAM), plus application role-based access
-managing the technical work streams in projects and/or change delivery
-representing all technical IT teams and principles by which developers need to work
-key contributor to IT strategy and planning which focuses on maximising the value from applications currently in use, consolidating applications (where applicable) and improving integration among applications
-managing the quality of technical deliverables from third parties
-technical team matrix management/co-ordination
-application architecture, including SAP

General skills include:
-collaborating across an organisation, at all levels, with exceptional communications skills and strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
-strong leadership, project and team-building skills, with the ability to lead teams and drive projects and initiatives across multiple departments
-bachelor`s degree (or equivalent) in information technology, with a focus on applications and development
-troubleshooting problems and finding solutions to complex issues
-demonstrated ability to identify those risks associated with business processes, operations, information security programs and technology projects
-ability to explain technical topics to those without a technical background and business topics to technical teams
-long-term thinking and anticipation of digital and application trends
-comfortable to both focus on new ideas and draw value from legacy applications
-well versed in the co-ordination of teams to deliver technical change - will work very closely with our support, delivery and business teams, daily

Salary: Competitive

No visitors parking on site - candidates going for interview will need to park at Watford Junction station which is approximately an 8 minute walk. Staff Parking - They will be added to the car park waiting list once they start so will have to park elsewhere until they are issued with a permit. However once head office based employees have been with us for 13 weeks they are then eligible to claim back up to £5 a day for any car parking charges they incur.
