Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Underwriting Manager to join a prominent organization in the insurance sector. This role is critical for overseeing underwriting operations, managing risk assessment processes, and ensuring the profitability of the underwriting portfolio. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in underwriting and a strong understanding of the insurance market.
Key Responsibilities

Underwriting Oversight:
Lead and manage the underwriting team, ensuring adherence to company policies, guidelines, and industry standards. -
Risk Assessment:
Evaluate risk factors for new and existing policies, applying analytical skills to determine appropriate coverage and pricing. -
Policy Development:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance insurance products, ensuring they meet market demands and regulatory requirements. -
Team Leadership:
Mentor and train underwriting staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the team. -
Performance Monitoring:
Analyze underwriting performance metrics, preparing reports to assess profitability and identify areas for enhancement. -
Client Engagement:
Build and maintain relationships with brokers, agents, and clients, addressing inquiries and providing support as needed. -
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards, conducting regular reviews and audits of underwriting practices.
Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., ACII, CPCU) are a plus. -
Experience:
5+ years of underwriting experience in the insurance industry, with a proven track record in managing underwriting teams and processes. -
Analytical Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions. -
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Cantonese, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders. -
Leadership Skills:
Proven leadership qualities, with experience in developing and motivating teams. -
Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with underwriting software and tools, as well as strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
