Job Title: Assistant Vice President/ Senior Manager, AI Governance & Responsible Innovation
Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Overview:
Our client, a prominent financial institution with a strong regional presence, is looking to hire Assistant Vice Presidents /or Senior Managers to join their Center of Excellence for AI and Emerging Technologies. These roles will focus on AI governance, ethics, and compliance, ensuring that AI/ML initiatives are developed and deployed responsibly and in alignment with internal policies and external regulations.
This is a great opportunity for professionals with backgrounds in legal, compliance, or risk who are keen to work at the intersection of emerging technology and responsible innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement governance frameworks and ethical guidelines for the use of AI and machine learning models.
- Establish and maintain compliance processes and internal guardrails to ensure responsible AI adoption.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including Legal, Risk, Compliance, Data Science, and IT) throughout the AI model lifecycle.
- Set up and oversee processes for model reviews, documentation, approvals, and ongoing monitoring.
- Evaluate models for ethical risks, including fairness, explainability, accountability, and transparency.
- Support internal and external audits related to AI usage and engage with regulators as needed.
- Monitor and stay informed of evolving AI regulations and ethical standards globally and regionally.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 5–8 years of experience in legal, compliance, risk, or AI governance, preferably within financial services or a regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of regulatory expectations, ethical considerations, and risk controls around AI/ML.
- Demonstrated experience in designing or managing governance structures, compliance frameworks, or model review processes.
- Ability to engage senior stakeholders and work cross-functionally in a complex organizational environment.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Law, Risk Management, Compliance, Computer Science, Data Ethics, or related field.
- Familiarity with AI governance frameworks (e.g., NIST AI RMF, OECD Principles, EU AI Act).
- Understanding of data privacy regulations and model risk management practices.
- Experience with AI assurance tools or technology governance platforms is a plus.
