Job Description

 

This role involves overseeing the full spectrum of accounting functions, enhancing systems and controls, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of financial management, preferably within the manufacturing sector.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting System & Process Improvement

  1. Design and implement a robust accounting system, including upgrades and enhancements to ensure accurate, real-time financial reporting.

2. Financial Reporting & Consolidation

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements for the Melaka branch, head office, and holding companies.
  • Assist in the consolidation of financial reports across entities and provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions.

3. Financial Operations & Controls

  • Oversee daily financial operations including collections, payments, month-end closing, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage credit control, cost analysis, cash flow forecasting, and intercompany account monitoring.

4. Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure all accounting practices comply with relevant Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Verify and approve payment vouchers, journal entries, invoices, receipts, and monthly debtor/creditor statements.

5. Taxation & Statutory Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of all taxes, licenses, and statutory fees.
  • Review monthly tax computations to ensure alignment with current tax laws.
  • Identify and propose tax-saving opportunities.

6. Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and support the accounting team to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.

7. Projects & Ad Hoc Assignments

  • Undertake special assignments and projects as required by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or MIA are mandatory.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with SAP is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
