Job Objective
Seeking a dynamic legal & compliance professional to support our Taiwan’s corporate affairs through close collaboration with cross-functional teams. This role focuses on strengthening internal controls, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards, managing external partnerships (vendors, agencies), and proactively supporting communication strategies on industry-related issues. The ideal candidate will monitor policy developments and represent the company’s interests with key stakeholders, including government agencies and trade associations.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Training & Awareness

Design and implement company-wide compliance training initiatives, conducted at least annually.

Develop tailored programs for departments with higher exposure to legal risk.

Ensure timely updates to employees on legal and regulatory changes.

Assess training effectiveness and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
Internal Compliance Audits

Develop and execute internal compliance review systems.

Conduct scheduled (annual) and ad-hoc inspections when potential breaches occur.
Legal Advisory & Law Firm Liaison

Identify and contract external legal advisors or law firms.
-
Manage contracts, including renewals, amendments, and fee arrangements.

Act as a bridge between external legal counsel and internal stakeholders.
Bylaw & Policy Governance
-
Oversee and maintain company bylaws, guidelines, SOPs, and policy manuals.

Coordinate with Operations on policy creation, revisions, or deactivation.
-
Review policy change proposals to ensure regulatory and operational consistency.
Ethical Procurement & Vendor Governance
-
Ensure procurement processes adhere to ethical and legal standards.
-
Mitigate supplier risk and optimize vendor relationships to support operational efficiency.

Maintain cost-effective, compliant sourcing practices across the organization.
Public & Government Affairs
-
Analyze regulatory trends and advise corporate strategies based on policy outlook.

Build and maintain productive relationships with government officials and industry stakeholders.

Represent the organization in interactions with public agencies, regulators, and trade groups.
Policy Monitoring & Advocacy
-
Monitor legislative developments impacting business operations.

Prepare position papers and advocacy materials to communicate our Taiwan’s perspectives.

Actively engage with officials to support favorable policy outcomes.
Issue & Crisis Management

Proactively address emerging regulatory or public affairs issues.

Navigate legislative or compliance challenges, acting as an internal advisor to management.
Ideal Candidate Profile

Education: Bachelor’s degree in law, Political Science, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5 years in Legal, Compliance, or Public Affairs, ideally within FMCG or regulated industries (tobacco a plus).

Skills & Competencies:

Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities.

Proactive in problem-solving with sound judgment and a sense of urgency.

Effective communicator with solid negotiation and legal interpretation skills.

Demonstrated experience working with or navigating government/legislative systems.

Language: Proficient in English (intermediate or above).
