Our client in this search is a global leading technology advanced materials company.
Responsibilities:
- Drives a culture of "Do It Safe, Do It Right the First Time" with their actions and their words on a daily basis
- Manages multiple groups globally responsible for the implementation, continuous improvement, and troubleshooting of automation and control systems used for manufacturing ultrahigh purity materials supplied to the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries.
- Directly manage 10-15 US resources and dotted line management of dotted line discipline lead management of 5-10 resources in Asia (Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Japan). Aptitude to expand reach beyond incumbent countries to France, China and other geographies as Semiconductor Materials globalize.
- Responsible for all design and support activities related to industrial power distribution, process instrumentation, industrial networks, and controls platforms globally.
- Responsible for significant level of Operation support in a 24-7, multi-site production environment including “on call” trouble ticket system for Operation Technology and Distributed Control System Issues.
- Responsible for establishing industry standard best practices across multiple global geographies.
- Responsible for delivering code compliant industrial controls systems for both green field, brown field and Process Development projects.
- Equally adept at self perform, third party and EPC model Automation and Controls and Operations Technology execution models. Ensures sufficient cross trained staff capable of all models globally.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining engineering standards used during project design and execution globally.
- Responsible for coordinating with other design disciplines for the efficient development, transfer and implementation of project requirements detailed on upstream documentation such as the P&ID.
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with internal engineering project execution standards.
- Deep understanding of standard Industrial network architectures globally.
- Understanding of ISA-99 Cyber Security Standard
- Understanding of ISA 85 Enterprise - Control System Integration Standard
- Understanding of ISA-84 Safety Instrumented Systems Standard.
- Responsible for managing the integration of the project into existing site specific industrial network and power distribution systems.
- Responsible for maintaining sufficient resources both internal and external to meet the needs of both capital projects and operational support. Globally manages resources across geographies including systems for remote support.
- Responsible for planning and articulating a roadmap for controls upgrades related to: adoption of best practices, internal minimum requirements, and obsolescence remediation.
- Requires significant creativity and leadership through problem solving
- 15% travel required (with 5% international) mostly to company sites
- Successfully completes all assigned trainings, and monitors the timely completion of training requirements of all direct reports
- Complete all assigned tasks, and monitors the timely completion of tasks assigned to direct reports
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent
- 15+ years of relevant experience, including programming PLC/DCS for chemical plant design and operation as well as process data collection and distribution for wider corporate use
- Knowledge and experience of a wide range of industrial communications protocols
- Candidate should have knowledge of applicable codes and standards for process control hardware and software (e.g. UL listing, NEC, etc. and their equivalents globally) as applied to hazardous materials handling and manufacture
- 10+ year experience managing automation & controls personnel
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a rapid-growth environment
- Trained in standard procedures for safe gas and chemical handling
- Chemical plant operation experience strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to multi-task
- Team player with leadership abilities.
- Self-starter with the ability to perform well under pressure and continuously changing priorities
- Problem solving and decision making skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
