The Director of Finance will serve as a strategic business partner to the executive leadership team, overseeing all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance. This role is responsible for ensuring the financial health of the organization and driving business performance through data-driven financial planning and analysis.
Position Overview: We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Director of Finance to join our executive leadership team in the transportation sector. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in finance, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a comprehensive understanding of the transportation industry's financial landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Oversee the development and execution of financial strategies that align with corporate objectives, enhancing profitability and shareholder value.
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the annual budgeting process and create detailed financial forecasts, ensuring accuracy and relevance to support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Market and Risk Analysis: Analyze market trends and competitive positioning to identify financial opportunities and risks, providing actionable insights to the executive team.
- Accounting & Compliance Oversight: Ensure the integrity of financial reporting and adherence to all regulatory requirements, including tax compliance and risk management.
- Executive Reporting: Translating complex financial data into strategic insights.
- Cross-departmental Collaboration: Partner with operational leaders to enhance financial performance through strategic initiatives and process improvements.
- Team Development: Cultivate and mentor a high-performing finance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Audit Coordination: Manage internal and external audit processes to ensure transparency and compliance with financial standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree highly preferred.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the transportation or logistics sector.
- Financial Acumen: Proven track record in managing sizable budgets and financial forecasting, with a deep understanding of financial metrics and key performance indicators.
- Leadership Ability: Strong leadership skills with experience in building and empowering teams, fostering a results-oriented environment.
- Communication Mastery: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging and influencing diverse stakeholders at all levels.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems, with advanced Excel skills.
