Job Description: Health Economics Specialist
Location: Mexico City, Mexico
Reports to: Health Economics Manager
Job Purpose:
The Health Economics Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing health economics analyses, value proposition strategies, and reimbursement support for medical technologies. This role involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to optimize patient access to technologies and contribute to strategic decision-making. The specialist will also support health economic evaluations, including the preparation of dossiers for regulatory submissions and systematic reviews of clinical and economic data.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement health economics strategies in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct health economic evaluations, including cost-effectiveness and budget impact models for medical devices and pharmaceutical products.
- Prepare and present dossiers for regulatory submissions and ensure all economic evaluations are aligned with local healthcare systems and reimbursement requirements.
- Work closely with marketing, sales, and clinical teams to understand market needs and drive value selling messages to customers.
- Provide training and support to the sales team on health economics tools and key messaging, both in-person and virtually.
- Analyze systematic literature reviews and clinical data to inform economic models and comparisons.
- Develop customer-facing tools, economic models, and reimbursement documents to maximize patient access to products.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff and promote cross-functional collaboration.
- Ensure timely completion of deliverables and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Stay up to date with changes in healthcare policies, reimbursement processes, and market dynamics.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Medicine, Economics, Mathematics, or Actuarial Science.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in generating healthcare economic evaluations and working with reimbursement processes in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare reimbursement environments, including public healthcare systems in Mexico.
- Experience in regulatory submissions, particularly with the Consejo de Salubridad General (CSG) and IMSS.
- Proficiency in Excel and advanced data analysis techniques.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and actionable format.
- Advanced written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proactive, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Health Economics or a related field.
- Experience with statistical analyses of large databases.
- Familiarity with modeling platforms such as TreeAge or similar.
- Experience in the private insurance ecosystem.
- Published abstracts or scientific articles in health economics.
