We are currently looking for a motivated team lead of Risk Operations for a global company in the natural resources and mining sector. This role will lead a team of risk analysts and requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and the ability to align the local team’s efforts with broader regional and global objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day to day oversight of a team of risk managers (covering product risk, credit risk, market risk and operation risk) with effective leadership to the local team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Mentor, coach, and develop the team members, in coordination with business heads, ensuring continuous learning and growth.
- Provide coverage of product risk responsibilities including:
- Calculating and running daily risk reports, including the desk’s P&L and exposures along with explanation of P&L drivers.
- Ensure the accuracy of the book of records.
- Communicate results effectively with traders, physical operators, and senior risk management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including local compliance, IT, finance, HR and facilities team
- Implement the offshore strategy set by the CRO
- Ensure that all systems and processes are optimized for efficiency and accuracy, working closely with the business in onshore offices and IT teams.
- Create and monitor a KPI reporting dashboard for the office. • Monitor the team’s adherence to procedures, London / Baar based framework for offshore offices and ensure efficient and accurate execution of all tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, STEM or a related field
- 8+ Years experience in a similar leadership role
- Risk experience in finance, banking, commodities or mining environment would be preferred.
- Computer literate MS Office. Strong Excel & PowerPoint skills
- Leadership with good emotional intelligence
- Multi-tasking and excellent management of time and priorities is essential
- Demonstrated, well-developed judgment and problem-solving skills
- High level of attention to detail and data accuracy.
