This role is pivotal for organizations seeking to influence and anticipate regulatory developments affecting the financial sector, including banks, insurers, fintechs, and investment firms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Foresight & Analysis: monitor, analyze, and interpret EU policy and regulatory developments in financial services, with a focus on sustainable finance, digital transformation, and market infrastructure.
- Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement: develop and implement integrated advocacy strategies at the European level, including drafting position papers, amendments, and responses to consultations. Build and maintain relationships with EU institutions, regulators, industry associations, and other key stakeholders.
- Strategic Advice: provide day-to-day strategic and operational advice to clients or internal stakeholders on public affairs issues, anticipating the impact of policy changes on business models and investment decisions.
- Campaign & Project Management: lead or supervise public affairs campaigns and projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality output. Manage teams and coordinate cross-functional efforts to achieve advocacy objectives.
- Client & Account Management: serve as the primary point of contact for client accounts, overseeing project delivery, client relationships, and business development activities.
- Thought Leadership: represent the organization at high-level events, conferences, and industry forums. Contribute to thought leadership and media engagement on financial regulatory topics.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in European public affairs, with a strong focus on financial services or related sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of the Brussels institutional landscape, EU legislative processes, and financial services regulation (banking, insurance, fintech, capital markets).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French; additional languages (e.g., Dutch, German, Spanish) are a plus.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, with strong organizational and team leadership skills.
- Commercial acumen and experience in business development or client management.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach to stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in project or team management within a consultancy, industry association, or corporate public affairs function.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex policy and regulatory developments into actionable business advice for clients or internal stakeholders.
- A network of contacts within EU institutions, industry bodies, and the broader Brussels policy community.
