Our client is focused on delivering medium to high end apparel products catering to major Premium kids wear and Surf wear brands.
This is a newly created position to join an expanding business in this category.
The business urgently requires a Fabric specialist who can independently run fabric and material development and diversify the Tier 2/ Tier 3 supplier base in order to reduce lead-times.

The business urgently requires a Fabric specialist who can independently run fabric and material development and diversify the Tier 2/ Tier 3 supplier base in order to reduce lead-times.
Key responsibilities:
- Actively develop fabric with mills in SE Asia and India sub-continent. Be the catalyst of moving fabric production out from China by engaging cross functional partners in different countries.
- Research and propose mill allocation with approved quality and negotiated savings to ensure competitive costs while maintaining quality and mill’s service level
- Analyzing category data and indicators to initiate proposal for mill strategy in line with garment sourcing plan.
- Closely work with management to conduct strategic sourcing initiatives including mill COP diversification, fabric consolidation/platforming and fact-based negotiations.
- Perform historical data analysis of fabric consumption and commodity price trend to establish procurement plan.
- Fabric mill management including leading the onboarding new suppliers of raw materials (fabric & trims) to ensure steady supply.
- Prepare mill scorecard and performance report matrix for management review.
- Identify supplier risk area and execute risk mitigation actions with technical and feasible solutions.
- Support global projects as required.
Job requirements:
- Degree or above with major in textile or business-related discipline.
- At least 6 years strategic procurement for knit and woven fabric in Asian countries with at least 3 years’ experience in sizable apparel buying office/trading company.
- In-depth technical knowledge, testing, safety standards on fabric constructions, production process and vendor management.
- Excellent fabric cost analysis.
- Outstanding data analysis and global project management skills.
- Strong problem solving and ability to lead negotiation with different counterparts.
- Strong presentation skills and able to collaborate with all levels of counterparts and cross functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Mandarin.
