Product development Manager (Sportswear)

Our client is a well-known sportswear retailer currently seeking a Product Development Manager to join their new setup team. In this role, you will manage the new model product specification process from start to finish and develop SOPs for Product Creation Development.

Responsibilities:

·       Lead and coach a team of product developers to manage the buy ready and production ready process at factories

·       Managing the new model product specification process from fit approval to bulk production enabling the accurate planning of raw materials to meet our quality and delivery expectations

·       Support seasonal transitions and carryover processes to meet Supply Chain needs and delivery expectations.

·       Assist Sourcing partners in assessing new factories to facilitate growth, category expansion, and flexibility in the supply chain.

·       Contribute to the product development creation process.

·       Provide seasonal timeline targets and delivery plans for products and/or factory portfolio.

·       Report on key performance metrics related to speed, quality, cost, and efficiency, while driving improvements.

·       Collaborate with Sourcing and Design teams to optimize product costs, assess new factories, and enhance development processes.

·       Collaborate on cross-functional projects

Requirements:

·       Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Apparel or Textile Design, Technology, Merchandising, or Engineering

·       8+ years’ experience in sourcing, design, development, production, or merchandising, ideally including 3+ years’ experience in people leadership

·       Possess a strong knowledge of apparel construction, material construction and properties, pattern making, costing, bill of materials, embroidery, and surface applications

·       Skilled in problem solving, interpreting design intent and product innovation

·       Proven performance history with domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers

·       remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity and inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement

·       Good communication in both English and Cantonese
